Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bark

This frozen dark chocolate peanut butter banana bark is sweet, salty, crunchy and incredibly easy to make. It is perfect when you want a simple dessert or something sweet after dinner.

Bananas are layered with creamy peanut butter, crunchy peanuts, dark chocolate and flaky sea salt before being frozen and broken into pieces.

Prep time: 10 minutes
Freezing time: 1 to 2 hours
Servings: Approximately 6

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas

  • ⅓ cup creamy peanut butter

  • 2 tablespoons chopped roasted peanuts

  • ¾ cup dark chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate

  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil

  • Flaky sea salt, for topping

Instructions

  1. Line a small baking sheet or large plate with parchment paper.

  2. Slice the bananas into coins and arrange them close together on the parchment paper, forming one connected layer.

  3. Place another piece of parchment paper over the bananas and gently press them down so the pieces flatten slightly and hold together.

  4. Warm the peanut butter for approximately 10 to 15 seconds if it is too thick to spread.

  5. Spread the peanut butter evenly over the bananas.

  6. Sprinkle the chopped roasted peanuts over the peanut butter.

  7. Place the banana layer in the freezer for approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

  8. Add the dark chocolate and coconut oil to a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until smooth.

  9. Pour and spread the melted chocolate over the peanut butter and peanuts.

  10. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Add a few additional chopped peanuts on top, if desired.

  11. Freeze for 1 to 2 hours, or until completely firm.

  12. Break the bark into pieces and enjoy immediately. You may also hold up the entire bark and take a bite—we are not judging.

Recipe Notes

  • Use dark chocolate containing approximately 60% to 70% cacao for a rich chocolate flavor that is not overly bitter.

  • A runnier natural peanut butter is easiest to spread. Thicker peanut butter can be warmed briefly before using.

  • Keep the bark stored in the freezer so the bananas and chocolate remain firm.

  • Place leftovers in an airtight freezer-safe container and enjoy within two weeks for the best texture.
